1) How did you meet and fall in love?
Adeline and I met in 2017 when we were both working in Waikato Hospital in Hamilton. On our first date we hit it off over our shared love of good food and we were pretty inseparable from there on in.
Unfortunately thanks to our careers (Addy is an Ophthalmology Registrar, I am a General Surgical Registrar) we had six months together in Hamilton and then have been living in different cities for the last three years.
Happily, we recently found out that we are both going to be back in Hamilton from February for the next few years, so get to live together again finally.
2) Tell us about your proposal?
We were having a weekend away together in Hawkes Bay when I popped the question. We both love mountain biking and went for a ride on a lovely sunny day. In a quiet, secluded spot I got down on one knee and that was that!
I think I caught her completely off guard, but fortunately she still said yes. We went for a great lunch at one of the local vineyards, then had to go back to our respective homes 5 hours apart to work two weeks’ straight!
2) Tell us about your Nolan and Vada engagement ring and why you chose it?
I knew the kind of stone I wanted and had a rough idea of the ring design, so flew up to Auckland to see a few different jewellers and look at stones.
I met with Cyril from Nolan and Vada who was really helpful and had just the stone I was after (the teal sapphire)! Some of the other jewellers were a bit flash and over-the-top for me, Cyril was really down to earth and I just liked the more personal touch really.
